Today, July 1, 2015 is the second annual Indie Pride Day!

Last year at this time I was just starting to write my very first book. I had never heard of Indie Pride Day. I was so surprised to find the welcoming, helpful and amazing authors that are Indie Authors. I have met some of the best people I have ever come into contact with when I started to connect with other indie authors.

I didn’t do the picture of myself with my books. It wasn’t for lack of interest just lack of time. With my busy schedule I find myself juggling so many things, between working full time as a paralegal, working part time as an assistant dance teacher, being a mom, being a wife, writing, promoting and marketing I find myself overwhelmed at times. That is when I am able to turn to other indie authors who are always there to help me find a way to deal with it all and take a deep breath and overcome what was trying to destroy my happiness.

Being an indie author is so much more than just writing a book and self-publishing it. It is a community that is there for each other no matter what. You find the support and people that understand exactly what you are going through because they are going through the same thing or already have. We help each other with promotions and trying to get each other’s books out in front of readers.

What I ask of you today is to follow the link to the Facebook Event for Indie Pride Day and see the amazing authors that have posted. Pick at least one indie book to purchase today. It can be one of mine or anyone else’s today is about all indie authors and just to purchase one indie book is something that can make all the work worth it.

I leave you with just one thought. We are following our dreams as indie authors and we make all of our own decisions. Each book that is put out by an indie author is a direct result of what that author created with no publishing company making any decisions for them. You want to get to know an author and who they really are as a person read an indie book.

Happy Indie Pride Day! I am proud to be part of this community!!!
